Forbes Working Dog Auction




The first Forbes Working Dog Auction, conducted by Kevin Miller Whitty Lennon & Co on Saturday, August 3, was a huge success, with the top priced dog selling for $9750.
A large crowd of bidders and onlookers flocked to the Forbes Showground for the event, where 13 of the 14 dogs offered sold to average $3150.
The 11 older dogs averaged $3500 while 2 pups averaged $1050.
The top price was achieved by lot 5, Condover Fly, being knocked down for $9750 to Craig Christopherson, Lewis Ponds.
Second top price was lot 10, Mia, which sold for $5250 to a South Australian bidder.
People travelled from all over NSW for the event, with 66 bidders registering from as far away as Girilambone in the north, Rochester in Victoria in the south, Oberon in the east and Hillston in the west.
Dogs were entered by breeders from across NSW and as far away as Murchison and Tongala in Victoria.
